Brian Beutler - staying alive, laughing

This morning came word that your blogstress's colleague and friend, Brian Beutler, that gifted young reporter, blogger and crypto-crooner, had taken three bullets in his mass, thanks to a botched robbery on a Washington, D.C., street. And he lives. And cracks wise. And, miraculously, is expected to make a full recovery.

For the record, Beutler has done some of the best reporting on the Bush administration's flouting of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA) that she has read anywhere. And she would say that even if she wasn't his editor.

Sorry to hear about your loss and your friend's misfortune. Good for him for his attitude. Obama's so-called move toward the middle is worth some concern. When are Democrats going to realize (as Harry Truman once said) that if Americans want to vote for a republican, they'll chose a real one?

Robocall - Tim Wildmon Your blogstress's friends at the American Family Association have been buying airtime from whomever will sell them a bit of that public trust to spread their customary message of hatred of queer folk. Here's a robocall that went out yesterday, presumably to any and all who ever contributed a dime to AFA. Note that the call comes from AFA founder Don Wildmon 's son, Tim . (Ever notice how some of these hate-mongering groups become a sort of full-employment plan for the founder's family?)
