But in building an image as a hip rock-star-like phenom, it does Obama a disservice. He's a Harvard-educated attorney and U.S. senator who's serious about serious matters.
I would've liked the video better if it was shorter and at least at the end included some meaningful statement from Obama himself.
But if Obama thinks he can reach some new kumbaya plateau of consistent compromise with neocon Republicans, he's extremely naive.
For that to work, the GOP, especially in Congress, would have to have a large contingent of moderates. The truth is, radical-right movement conservatives ran most moderates out of the leadership, even out of office and out of the party, years ago. (So long, Chuck Hagel.) The few who remain have been marginalized and made to march in lockstep.
The bottom line is, it will be OK for Obama to reach across the aisle if he becomes president. I just advise him to count his fingers afterward.
